Comedian on round-the-world marathon challenge diagnosed with prostate cancer

Comedian Kanpei Hazama, who is currently half way through his round-the-world marathon bid, has been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer, it has been learned.

Hazama, 60, departed from Osaka in December 2008 and arrived in Turkey last month after he crossed the Pacific, North America, the Atlantic and Europe by running and sailing.

Prostate cancer group meets Jan. 26

LifeLines, a supportive and informative resource for prostate cancer patients and their partners in northern Bergen County, will meet from 7:45 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26 at the Church of the Presentation, 271 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River. Prostate cancer patients formed the group to share information and experiences about available treatment and service resources.
